Yes, this is how we spent Russell's first day of his vacation. The nurse called from school around noon and told me Jarrett's lungs sounded yucky and I needed to get him into the doctor. We called the Pediatrician's office and away we went. We got to Dr Holly around 1:50 and it went downhill from there.
Jarrett is normally energetic and talkative and even though he was very sick, he was still in a good mood. His oxygen level was fluctuating between 91 and 93, 98 and above is where they want it and he was over-compensating his breathing. His poor little lungs were starving for air. After several treatments and several viewings of The Lion King an ambulance was called. We were transported to Children's Medical in Plano. Jarrett was very excited to get on the gurney and have all the seatbelts acros him.
Jarrett loved the ambulance ride. He asked for his blood pressure to be taken several times as he loved his arm being squeezed. He also liked the fact that he could see daddy in the car behind us and we waved at him several times. The ride was a bit long, construction on 121 and a wreck but about 35 minutes later we arrived.
After being wheeled in and transfered from the gurney to a bed we began the long wait. Waiting for his heart rate and his blood pressure to lower and his breathing to return to normal. Along with the wait we also dealt with blue lips and blue around his mouth. This kind of freaked us all out.
He was very surprised when his Nanny and PaPa showed up to keep him company for a bit. He entertained the nurses, the doctor..telling her at one point he had never been to medical school and other staff members as well as us.
Jacob and Nanny Roxanne also showed as they could not stay away.
We were finally discharged around 10:oo pm and of course, had to make a stop at Wal Mart...not for prescriptions but for a new Lego, mommy and daddy had promised him a new Lego to bribe him to cooperate with the doctors and nurses.
Jarrett was home from school today but will get to go back tomorrow. We followed up with Dr Holly again today and she has put him on pe and recess restriction until we meet with the pulmonologist tomorrow and see what he says.
Hopefully the rest of our week will be BORING>
